Biography Dr Jeroen Dijkman
Head of Africa Research (Until 1 February 2011)
Jeroen was educated at the Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine of the Edinburgh University. During his subsequent field career he specialised in the application of system approaches to promoting innovation and development. He is an internationally recognised authority on the operationalisation of innovation systems ideas in agricultural and rural development practice and planning. He has worked and consulted extensively for bilateral and multilateral donors, NGOs, CGIAR-Centres and UN agencies in all major developing regions of the world.
Dr Dijkman was previously the director of the Enabling Innovation theme of International Livestock Research Institute, and currently works for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations' (FAO) Pro-Poor Livestock Policy Initiative - which was credited to have influenced global thinking on policy and institutional change by the recent independent external evaluation of the FAO - from where he also coordinates the LINK programme.
