David Sam Suale

RIU Sierra Leone
David Sam Suale became head of Sierra Leone RIU in April 2008. Prior to this he was on short-term consultancy with RIU from the time of the country assessment.
David has over 16 years experience in different organizations and capacities. He has over 8 years working experience with international non-governmental organizations (DFID-UK RIU, International Rescue Committee, Lutheran World Federation and Africare) operating mainly in the western area, east and south of Sierra Leone. His work experience has been in senior management positions - Country Coordinator/Country Director, Programme Coordinator, Regional Field Coordinator and Administrative/Finance Assistant. He has wide range of experience in emergency and development work which involved programme planning and management, logistics, assessment, resettlement and rehabilitation of returnees and IDPs, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting. He also is development consultant and has established an organization called Natural Resources Organization.
Education
David has a postgraduate degree (MSc) in agriculture (with emphasis in soil science) from Njala University and a BSc in general agriculture from the same university. In addition to these, he has had additional knowledge in series of trainings, seminars, workshops, consultation and fellowship studies in various parts of the world including Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Mozambique, Kenya etc.
