RIU - Research Into Use

World Food Day
18 October 2010

RIU Director, Ian Maudlin, has written a new Update looking at some of the issues that sit behind this year's World Food Days theme of 'Unite against Hunger'.

Meanwhile Kenya celebrated World Food Day by staging a major exhibition in Kisumu. This was attended by politicians and large crowds packed the exhibits. Real IPM exhibited Gro-Plus (a new product used in seed priming) and presented details of some of their work, which is supported by RIU, in Western Kenya.

Collins Wanyama of Real IPM commented:
"There was strong interest in Gro-Plus. Attending this event helped create awareness and useful contacts were made which we can follow-up. Farmers gave their feedback too. They particularly like the simplicity of the technique.

The show also gave us the opportunity to talk about Gro-Plus to a wide range of stakeholders and opinion-formers."
