RIU Commercialisation for Agriculture Sector Development gets the H20 treatment
1 December 2010

From time to time the RIU Deputy Director Andy Frost commissions work which complements and adds value to the RIU portfolio. Through its Commissioned Work, RIU is particularly keen to exploit new and emerging opportunities and partnerships with the private sector.

Previously, RIU Best Bets identified technologies with champions and helped them to move to the next stage of their development. A newly commissioned piece of work takes the opposite approach - starting from unmet needs and scouting for technologies and business solution that can address them while delivering strong social and developmental outcome. This work is called Commercialisation for Agriculture Sector Development.

In a new film, RIUtv meets... Paul Coleman and David Kelly, directors of H20 Venture Partners, who talk about this interesting new development. RIUtv caught up with them at the second steering group committee meeting for the Commercialisation for Agriculture Sector Development project, held in London in early November 2010.

In the film Dr Coleman and Dr Kelly explain their process to enable the commercialisation of new and emerging technologies. The RIU commercialisation project is focusing on post-harvest crop storage, agricultural mobile telecoms applications, aquaculture and quality poultry feeds in East Africa.
