RIU-supported Campaign offers relief to 'desperate' Ghanaian fruit exporters
In recent years mealy bug has become a major pest of papaya in Ghana. A biological control agent, tradename Campaign, based on the fungus
Metarhizium anisopliae and active against this pest, has recently been launched with the assistance of RIU and is now on sale in Ghana.

FIPS-Africa trials stimulate farmer interest in Gro-Plus
Recently FIPS-Africa staff have been visiting farmers in Western Kenya who have taken part in trials which compared conventional sowing of dry maize seed with priming (soaking the seed in water overnight) followed by application of the Real IPM Company's Gro-Plus product, which supplies a small amount of phosphate fertilizer.

Ministry of Agriculture backs RIU findings in Zambia
The Zambian National Innovation Coalition (NIC) chairman, Mr Joseph Nkole, recently paid tribute to the RIU Zambia country team for their tireless efforts, good results and lessons coming from the Conservation Agriculture programme. This is especially impressive given the short period that RIU has been operating in Zambia.

FIPS-Africa soil management techniques successfully trialled in Western Kenya
Fifteen of FIPS-Africa's village based advisors who operate with RIU support in Western Kenya have recently helped local farmers to establish mini on-farm trials to compare a number of soil management techniques that improve water infiltration and rooting depth.

Shujaaz wins prestigious One World Media Award
At a ceremony in London last night Shujaaz was announced as this year's recipient of the One World Media Special Award. The award is presented for an outstanding project working on the ground in the developing world, where media activity has made a real impact on people's lives.

Tanzanian President praises RIU poultry project
This week RIU Tanzania received the highest level endorsement possible when the President of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, was interviewed by RIUtv. He said how impressed he is with the poultry enterprise initiative developed and run by RIU Tanzania.

Commercial launch 'Campaign' in Ghana. Bio-pesticide research goes into use
RIU has previously reported the successful registration of the first bio-pesticides in Ghana. One of the products to be registered, trade name 'Campaign', is now on sale to farmers in Ghana.
