Practice Government adopting the policy of using smallholder farmers to participate in the multiplication of breeder seed for legumes. Initially, these farmers were only allowed to multiply maize hybrid seed.
Evidence of change20 farmers under Association of Smallholder Farmers Seed Multiplication Action Group now multiplying breeder and basic seed of legumes.
RIU involvement Provision of platform grant to facilitate farmers acquisition of breeder seed and other technical services. Linking the farmers with breeders and seed services inspection units.
