The Sierra Leone RIU Programme operates with full support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS). The RIU secretariat has been offered a seat on the Agricultural Advisory Group (AAG), of the MAFFS, the PAID membership have a seat on the Agricultural Technical Team (ATT) to the same group.

Working through the Partnership in Agricultural Innovation for Development (PAID), RIU Sierra Leone has attracted a large number of partner organisations.

In May 2010 RIU Sierra Leon commissioned a survey of the membership of PAID from which a directory of PAID members was produced.

In December 2010 RIU Sierra Leone produced a list of partners and proposed roles:

  • The Sierra Leone Centre for Agribusiness Development (SLCAD) - business linkages, networking and advocacy
  • Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) - market access information
  • Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS) - establishment of innovation platform (rice, livestock and fisheries) under the smallholder commercialization project
  • CARE International - trainings/workshops facilitation with MOU
  • Welthungerhilfe or German Agro - processing, packaging and marketing working through the solar drying in fruits and vegetable value chains
  • Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) financing innovation
  • ACCESS Bank financing innovation.
