Fit to national policy
RIU Tanzania describes its objective as working towards:
'improved programme communication and harmonisation for effective sharing and influencing local, national and international policy agenda'
It is vital for RIU Tanzania to ensure that activities at country level are aligned with ongoing agricultural and natural resources development initiatives as well as relevant national and sectoral strategies in the country.
Based on developments and lessons from the platforms and information and communication system, the programme will work to ensure that relevant linkages with national processes and other RIU initiatives are identified for sharing lessons, experiences and influencing policy.
Identification of relevant national processes for linkage with RIU interventions will be done under respective activities under thrust one and two. The main purpose for linking and harmonising activities with relevant processes is to nurture and strengthen relationships with relevant stakeholders in government and other organizations in order share lessons, learn and facilitate out-scaling or adoption of RIU's lessons whenever suitable.
Experimenting processes for facilitating policy engagement and communicating programme policy lessons to relevant bodies for action will be conducted under respective activities under thrust one and two. As operations continue, policy lessons will continually be collected from platform activities.
The Government of Tanzania has launched
Kilimo Kwanza (Agriculture First) - a public private partnership and an important part of the country's overall 'green revolution'. There is political emphasis on agri-financing which should create new opportunities and RIU can actively partner the government - promoting innovation.
