Strategy and approaches

After a full review the country team have decided to focus on two thematic areas - conservation farming (this includes a programme in rice production and agriculture stakeholder forums in targeted districts as well as at National Innovation Coalition (NIC) level.

The conservation farming will have twin objectives:

1. Promotion
   Enhancing the demand for and putting into use conservation agriculture related outputs of RNRRS and other research for the benefit of the poor
2. Learning
   Generating evidence about getting conservation agriculture research into use and sharing lessons/ supporting policy dialogue

The innovation platforms are located in Monze district (Southern Province) and Chipata district (Eastern Province). Activities for these platforms will be supported to enhance stakeholder interactions, sharing of experiences and trust building.
